Pink Noise Cheese Grater
I was using a cheese grater last night, grating Parmesan. I noticed
(as I'm sure you've noticed) that the diamond-shaped array of Little
Graty Bumps quickly wears grooves in the cheese, and then the
grating action stops until you rotate either the cheese or the
grater.
This is silly. If you put the Little Graty Bumps in a 1/f frequency
distribution, the grating action would be homogenous, no matter
what direction you grated in. The Bumps would never line up and create
grooves.
(I tried to make a good pink-noise image, but Photoshop isn't really
smart enough. The bitmap-dithering option uses too small a radius.)
