Martian Landscape: Forest

A simple forest layout file. The two central strokes each contribute to the forest density. The curved right stroke imposes a higher density than the left one. These two strokes also have a color influence.

The square in the upper corner also affects density -- it provides a constant background of "no trees", which is modified by the other two strokes.

The horizontal strokes at the top and bottom control the size of the tree marks. They do not influence density, and thus do not affect the placement of the marks.

The tree density, tree size, and color fields generated by this layout.

The rendered tree field. Tree size increases smoothly from top to bottom, "anchored" by the two scale-defining (horizontal) strokes. The trees themselves cluster around the two density-defining strokes.

The same image, with color.
