An ES-view is a kind of thing. An ES-view is scenery.

Instead of examining an ES-view when the ES-weather is ES-pouring:
    say "The rain comes between you and [the noun] like a curtain of silver. No details are visible."

Instead of doing something other than examining or conversing when the noun is an ES-view:
    say "You are too far from [the noun] to do anything but look."

Instead of doing something other than examining or conversing when the second noun is an ES-view:
    say "You are too far from [the second noun] to do anything but look."

Instead of examining the player when the location is RRS5:
    say "[if ES-weather is ES-pouring]The salient fact is that you are drenched. No other state information is nearly as important right now[else if ES-weather is ES-raining]You are soaking wet, aching, gooey[else]Your journey — fifteen hours on a humid train — has left you achey and a bit sticky. Nothing that a hot shower and a change of clothes couldn't solve, though[end if]."

When play begins:
    now the player is in RRS5.

The ES vowel list is a list of texts that varies. The ES vowel list is { "a", "e", "i", "o", "u", "A", "E", "I", "O", "U" }.

To say es aan (T - a text):
    let vowel be character number 1 in T;
    if vowel is listed in the ES vowel list:
        say "an [T]";
    else:
        say "a [T]".

To say ES Aan (T - a text):
    let vowel be character number 1 in T;
    if vowel is listed in the ES vowel list:
        say "An [T]";
    else:
        say "A [T]".

Chapter 2 - Commentary

Commentary of RRS5 is "Because I am contrary, my number one ambition on being invited to contribute a single room to a very large game was to work out how I could make my elements rely on and react to other people's contributions even though I had no idea what those contributions were going to be. I've also been on a procedural text kick lately.

Some of the doll's remarks are based on a dream interpretation corpus assembled for PROSECCO by Tony Veale (though they have been heavily curated and edited). Many others I made up, focusing on words that exist in Anchorhead, words commonly used by Lovecraft, words that were especially likely to appear in the Inform world model, or words I thought were especially likely to turn up in item descriptions, such as colors, materials, sizes and shapes."

Chapter 3 - The Room

Section 1 - The Room Itself

Printed name of RRS5 is "Exterior of Train Station (Emily Short with additions from Graham Nelson)".

Somewhere down there, you can get a bath and a meal[end if].".

Instead of going down when the location is RRS5:
    try going south.

After going south when the location is RRS6:
    say "You pass over the bridge[if ES-weather is ES-pouring]. The ravine has become a white river, teeming with creatures: you see a fin, a gill, a plaintive upturned face, before each is swept away[end if].";
    continue the action.

Instead of going northwest when the location is RRS5:
    say "Best not to walk across [the ES-train-tracks]."

Instead of going northeast when the location is RRS5:
    say "Best not to walk across [the ES-train-tracks]."

Instead of going up when the location is RRS5:
    say "Even if you had the gift of flight, the expression of the sky is not one that encourages visitors."

Instead of going southwest when the location is RRS5:
    say "[The ES-ravine] gapes like a whale's jaw."

Instead of going southeast when the location is RRS5:
    say "[The ES-ravine] would swallow you like a gumball in the mouth of a leviathan."

Instead of jumping when the location is RRS5:
    say "[The ES-ravine] would probably enjoy that. You would not."

Instead of smelling yourself when the location is RRS5:

        no;
    yes.

Section 2 - The Doll's Sinister Functionality

[In the section that follows, we break up the doll's dictionary because otherwise we're looking up 15 words across however many entries the table has in total. We also match the most common English letters first — at least according to the sequence I learned as a cipher fan as a child, namely ETONRISHD. (This may be incorrect, but it's close enough.)]
