Brown, Josie; Mambert, Rose; Racicot, Bill (ed.) -- Rapunzel's Daughters and Other Tales
Small-press collection of fairy tale "what happened nexts". This has a
nice range of approaches (modern retellings, literal sequels,
historical or fantasy-historical reimaginings) but the stories
generally didn't grab me. Some were just excuses for snarkiness;
others were excuses for a hard-done-by character to count coup and
strike a triumphant pose. The rest had a more, mm, lit-genre structure
than I prefer. That is, as a genre fantasy reader I wound up saying
"Nice mood piece but not really a story" a lot.
